I Don’t Want a Primitive Pickle

This is Primitive Bob, the husband of Margo, aka Choose Moose.

Now the Moose had a special order for some primitive pickles, and I just had to tell the story of how they came to be. Now I must warn you ahead of time that this story may be familiar to the older crowd, but maybe just plain silly for the younger readers. And if that is you, I will post a video at the end that will help you out. So with all of that being said, let’s get on with the primitive pickle story.

The Moose was riding her motorcycle down a mountain road at about 150 miles per hour, making primitive ornies.

On one side of the mountain road there was a mountain, and on the other side there was nothing. There was just a cliff and the air. And she wasn’t paying attention. Now you know that is dangerous.

All of a sudden a threaded needle flew out of her hand. That threaded needle got caught on a yield sign. Now the yield sign didn’t give, the thread didn’t break, and she held on tight. She made a sharp turn off of the road. Luckily she didn’t go into the mountain, but went over the cliff.

Well all of a sudden she was going 150 miles per hour sideways and 500 feet down at the same time. She was looking for the cops, because she knew that it was illegal.

Well, she knew that was it. She knew that she didn’t have much time left. So she decided to make one last primitive ornie for the world. A pickle! She took out some fabric. Took out some thread and a needle. And she began to sew.

Now she knew that it was not the best primitive ornie that she had ever made, but she didn’t have time to change it!

Now the amazing part of the story is that she didn’t die. She landed on top of a police car, and it died.

I know that this story will be hard for some of you to believe, but this is how the first primitive pickle came to be.

Primitive Americana, for the Fourth of July and Memorial Day

I am starting to introduce my patriotic bowl fillers and ornies for decorating.
With Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day all heading here in the months to come, I thought
I would get a head start and begin making some of my favorite ornies and bowl fillers. Stars, hearts, Lady Liberty, pinwheels, liberty bells

Primitive Easter Ornies, Bowl Fillers, and Flatties

I hope that you are ready for a “prim spring” and a very Primitive Easter season!

I have several new items this year. And as always, all items are one of a kind handmade. So if you see something that you like, you better get it, because I may not be able to reproduce it. A lot of the fabric is in short supply and when it is gone, it is gone!

I have had several requests for crosses, so I gave it a try. And here are my Primitive “Olde Rugged Crosses”.

And primitive Easter bunnies! Why I have more prim rabbits and bunnies that you can shake a primitive stick at!

I think that this is my favorite. I made these last year and they really sold well. They are very versatile!

These primitive Easter Bunnie heads are as cute as a primitive button! They really make nice bowl fillers or tree ornaments.

Of all the Easter Bunnies, these have to have the most prim look. I am selling them in several different configurations. However don’t be afraid to ask if you want something different.

I love this little “prim” fellow. He is “primunique”. A little different and comes with wire for hanging. There are a lot of different ways that he could be used!

And your Primitive Easter would not be complete without Easter Eggs. Here is a small sample of some that I have this year.

These are some of my prim favorites. They are wrapped in the nicest plaid homespun fabric before they are treated with my special solution and a little coffee and spice!

And these “flattie” Easter Eggs are ALWAYS a favorite! Some fabrics are very limited and they may be gone, so order early to insure that you get your favorite! Check my stores for current inventory.

I will wrap this up with a set of primitive Easter Chicks. They look a little like those Easter Marshmallow Peeps that you see in the stores. They almost look good enough to eat!

Primitive Sheep and Shamrocks to Complete Your Primitive St Patricks Day

I hope that you are all ready to eat some corned beef and cabbage for your primitive St Patrick’s Day! You may even have some plans of washing it all down with some green beer!

Let me help you out with some primitive St Patrick’s Day decorating ideas. Primitive ornies and flatties!

First I have primitive sheep. They have a cute little shamrock hand sewn on their backside! I also made these sheep reversible! After St Patrick’s Day you can simply turn them around and use them all year long. Now there is a way to get more “bang for your primitive buck”!!!

Next I have some primitive shamrock flatties. These were made with some old fabric that I had lying around and I am really primitively pleased with the way that they turned out!

And lastly I have a couple of different “primitive flavors” of shamrock ornies! These may not last and the fabrics are limited. And again, if your primitive heart desires something that you don’t see, just Contact Me and I will see if I can make it for you!

If I can do a special order for you, just send me an email via the “Contact Me” link above. Please be as descriptive as possible (size, color, how many) and I will be happy to quote you a price. I will quote you a price and even send you photos of the fabric if you wish.

Once you have indicated your items, quantities, etc. and I have furnished you with my price, I will then issue you a PayPal invoice. It’s quick and so simple. I can typically offer a better price too when we do a custom order as I have no eBay or Etsy listing fees to pay which in turn saves the customer $$. Who doesn’t like to save $$.

The Primitive Blizzard of 2010

It has been a long time since I have seen this much Primitive Snow!!! Normally in our part of Delaware we are lucky to see any snow. This has been the year for it. This snow left about 20 inches. And then we have another coming in 2 days.
So, I have plenty of time for making primitive ornies, but not much luck with shipping them out. I have contacted everyone who has purchased anything and asked for patience. I am thinking that they might go out on Monday or Tuesday. If not, I will keep you posted.

Are you ready for a Primitive Valentines Day?

I hope that you had a Very Merry Primitive Christmas and a Happy Primitive New Year! It sure was a better year in my neck of the woods with all of my children in the United States! Hopefully the boys are finished with the tours to countries full of violence and wars. We have had enough of that to last for the rest of our lives!

And now I want to share with you some items that I been been working on to help you have a Prim Valentines Day!

New for this year are my Primitive Potion Bottles. I made these for Halloween and they did so well that I thought I would try them for Valentines Day.

Primitive Christmas Decorations: Snowmen

It is not too early to be thinking about those primitive Christmas decorations. And back again from last year are the personalized snowmen. These sold like primitive hotcakes last year and they have already been selling this year. Nothing says prim Christmas quite like a primitive personalized snowman. Get one for every member of your family and hang them on your tree. Of course they can be used in many other ways. Let your prim imagination run wild!

Each snowman ornie is made from osnaburg fabric which has been stuffed with a double layer of quilter’s batting and then placed in my special prim grunging solution of coffee, vanilla and cinnamon mixture giving them that prim look that we all love. Each prim snowman is about 7 1/2 inches tall and 1/3 inch thick.

The primitive snowmen eyes are two small black craft beads and the nose has been hand embroidered. Your choice of names will be hand sewn at the bottom. There is also some blush on the snowmen cheeks painted on. Rusty vintage looking jingle bells are used for the buttons.

Finally mica flakes are sprinkled on each snowman. They can be left off if you like. A cotton string has been attached to the back of the ornament for ease in hanging on your holiday tree.

Free personalization is limited to 12 letters. The personalized name will be hand embroidered using black embroidery floss. You can get anything that you want on them. You could get a Christmas word or two instead of a name. Such as ” Ho Ho Ho”, “Primitive”, “Christmas”, etc. Get a word on each one and make a sentence!

I have tied a piece of homespun fabric for the snowman’s scarf. I have several homespun colors available too. Colors available are : hunter green, burgundy, navy blue, and red and green check. You are more than welcome to request a particular color scarf.

Primitive Ornies, Bowl Fillers, and Tucks for Halloween

The prim world has all sorts of people, just like anywhere else. Some are looking for primitive Christmas items and others are looking for primitive Valentines items. So I just never know what will bring people here.

Today I would like to get you ahead and get you ready for Halloween. Seems like I am always running short of inventory, so I am trying to put some things in early. You would be wise to get some while the selection is good!

As always these items are always changing, so they may be sold before you get there. If you have special requests or just missed an item that you really wanted Contact Me and I may be able to help you.

First, and new for this year, are Primitive Grungy Witch Potion Bottles.

Since these are new this year, I am still working on the sets. As of now you may get 3 or 4. And they are a little different so be sure to read the description on the item you are purchasing. They are made with muslin and stuffed with polyester fiberfill. They have been painted black and grunged in my special solution to make them look and smell “Oh so prim”! You may see Lizard Toes, Snake Juice, Frogs Breath, and Spider Legs! All important ingredients, but hardly interchangeable!

And here is a Spooky Witch that can be a shelf sitter, bowl filler or hang it anywhere.

This Spooky, Grungy Primitive Witch is not for the faint of heart!

She has been made from muslin fabric, stuffed with polyester fiberfill and painted with black craft paint. Antique white hair has been needle felted and she comes complete with a cheesecloth cape, a broom, and a jingle bell on her witch hat. I have used black craft beads for the eyes and embroidered the eyebrows and mouth. I’ve blushed her cheeks using some red craft paint. A rusty wire has been tied around the witch to secure the broom. This witch has also been lightly sanded to give her that prim spooky look! A prim hang tag is included which says, “Spooky Halloween”.

Primitive Hang Tags.

I have been busy making all different kinds of hang tags. Make sure that you visit My eBay Store to see them all! Here is a short list of some things that you can do with them:

Nothing says Halloween quite like candy corn, and I have got you covered!

I have several different varieties so be sure to check them all out before you decide. Most were started with a muslin fabric that has been machine stitched and stuffed with polyester fiberfill. I then applied craft paint in colors of orange, mustard yellow and antique white and then a good dark grunging solution of coffee, vanilla and cinnamon to each candy corn and oven baked them to prim perfection.

Some have a rusty safety pin and jingle bell. Lastly, a primitive hang tag may be included. A homespun fabric tie may also be found on the tag. Most smell “Oh so prim” with cinnamon rubbed on them!

Primitive Halloween Spooky Ghosts Ornies Bowl Fillers

Perfect for tucking in your cupboards or on a shelf but especially nice to display in bowls, baskets and crocks during the fall & Halloween season. Just make sure that you leave a nightlight on. You wouldn’t want to see one of these in the dark.

Each one of these ghost ornies have been made from warm and natural batting. After each ghost has been meticulously machine stitched, I have stuffed them full of polyester fiberfill and then they get placed in my special grunging solution with additional cinnamon hand rubbed for added prim fragrance and finally oven baked for that prim perfection!

Black craft paint has been applied to the ghosts eyes and mouth. I have also painted an outline on the outer edges of each ghost in brown craft paint just to give some added dimension. Each ghost is different from the next and no two are quite alike. I have placed a rusty safety pin and jingle bell and a homespun tie on each one and also attached a metal rimmed prim hang tag on one that says “Spooky”.

Primitive Pumpkin Headed Stars ~ Ornies ~ Bowl Fillers~Tucks~ “Pumpkin Thyme”

Starting with muslin fabric, I machine stitched each pumpkin headed star ornie~bowl filler. After meticulous stitching I then stuffed each one with polyester fiberfill.

I then used craft paint on each pumpkin star with the pumpkin head being painted a dirty orange color and the body painted black. They get placed in my special grunging solution to make the look old and finally cinnamon gets rubbed on each handmade treasure. They get a light sanding too to add to the olde thyme look. I have hand painted the eyes and mouth with black craft paint. Little rusty stars have been added on the front for buttons and a grungy cheesecloth scarf has been tied around each pumpkin’s neck.

Each pumpkin star measures 6 inches tall and 6 1/2″ in length. Also included is a prim hang tag with your purchase which says “Pumpkin Thyme” and has a little orange pumpkin hand drawn on the tag.

Place these festive little primitive guys in an old wooden bowl, basket or crock. There are so many things you can do with these ornies. Maybe you want to sit them on a shelf or place them in a Halloween wreath. They would be perfect scattered on a table with some greenery underneath. Perfect for hanging on the Halloween holiday tree too!
